Brownwood Regional Medical Center Names Employee of the Year
February 1, 2018, Brownwood, Texas—Brownwood Regional Medical Center (BRMC) has named Gail Hightower as the 2017 Employee of the Year. The award is the highest honor bestowed on a hospital employee each year. Gail was chosen from among 500+ hospital employees for this honor.
“Health care requires a special blend of great people skills, tireless energy and the ability to work well under pressure,” says Chip Camp, CEO-BRMC. “People who work in health care share the common desire to help others and make a difference in people’s lives. It’s a pleasure to recognize our employees for their dedication to our patients, and to providing outstanding care.”
Employees are nominated for the award by their hospital peers, based on their commitment to patient care, their professionalism, and their contributions on the job.
Gail Hightower, Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) has worked at BRMC since June 2000. She began her career as a Case Manager. Through the years she has worked on the Geriatric-Psychiatry Unit, Skilled Nursing Unit, Rehab Unit and the Emergency Room along with on call rotation for the nursing units. She currently serves as the Social Worker in the Walker Cancer Center. She was honored as Employee of the Month in August 2010 and again in December 2016. No matter which department she has worked she provided so much passion and compassion to her co-workers and patients.
She chose to become a social worker because the field of social work is broad and the profession covers many opportunities to assist those in need. It allows diversity within the profession and the ability to help people of all ages and many walks of life and that diversity was very appealing and led her down the social work path.
Gail’s supervisor, Tammy Means, Walker Cancer Center Director said, “I have had the great pleasure to know and work with Gail for many years. I have always found her full of integrity, competence, and a zest for life. In fact, I have never worked with an individual who gives as much devotion to her patients as she does. Also, she has a great passion for her profession and display’s it every day with unlimited admiration.”
“We are pleased that Gail Hightower has been chosen as Employee of the Year and know each of our employees has a specific role in the delivery of quality health care to the people who live and work in the Brownwood/Brown County area,” said Camp. “Our success in meeting the needs of the patients we serve is dependent on the collective efforts of all employees.”
