As the need for healthcare continues to grow, so does the need for
progressive, state-of-the-art imaging technology. Brownwood Regional
Medical Center's Radiology and Imaging Services provides physicians
with high-quality visual information about illnesses and injuries for
use in patient care, treatment, and diagnosis.
MRI
Brownwood Regional Medical Center's W. Lee Watson Imaging Center houses
a 1.5 Tesla GE Excite Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system
which is one of the most powerful diagnostic tools available to physicians.
The MRI produces brilliant diagnostic images without the use of radiation,
providing physicians with detailed images of the brain, spinal cord,
joints, soft tissue, and the body's vascular system.
Nuclear Camera
A Dual Head Nuclear Camera uses radioactive isotopes to create detailed
diagnostic images of organs such as the heart, lungs, and liver in
half the time of single head cameras. This equipment can increase
efficiency and improve the diagnosis and treatment for patients utilizing
nuclear medicine exams.
CT Scan
32 multi-detector computed tomography, the fastest noninvasive scanning equipment,
produces three-dimensional images with the capability of pinpointing
lesions within the body. This technology allows physicians to perform
small needle biopsies to examine abnormalities within the body, without
the need for invasive surgery.
Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a widely used imaging technique which does not require
the use of radiation. Ultrasound is commonly used for OB-GYN, vascular
studies and imaging organs in the abdomen.
X-RAY
Important applications remain for diagnostic radiology, commonly called
x-rays, which uses the lowest doses of radiation possible to image
broken bones and to perform interventional or therapeutic procedures.
This area includes a dedicated mammography suite to provide breast
cancer detection services for women. It is accredited by the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration, American College of Radiology and the
Texas Department of Health.
Experience
Brownwood Regional Medical Center’s Radiology
Department is staffed by board certified radiologists who are specifically
trained to interpret these diagnostic images. The technical staff,
made up of registered and licensed technologists, works with the
physicians to conduct these procedures.
