For many, there is comfort knowing that the emergency department at Brownwood
Regional Medical Center has a highly trained team ready to provide sophisticated
emergency medical services, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The recent expansion
of the emergency department has allowed Brownwood Regional Medical Center to
meet the growing number of emergency visits. The expansion included replacing
two trauma rooms and four exam rooms, increasing the size of the cast room,
adding a walk-in entrance and five new fast-track rooms for minor emergencies,
and providing expanded waiting areas for more patient and family privacy.
Highly skilled physicians are on duty to handle all types of medical emergencies,
from trauma related injuries to cardiovascular illness and orthopedic injuries.
The emergency department physicians are assisted by the nursing staff, and
work closely with other medical staff physicians to provide prompt emergency
care to the people of Brown County and the surrounding area. The specially
trained nursing staff assists physicians in providing life saving care, as
well as in screening patients to ensure the most serious medical problems
are cared for immediately.

In a medical emergency, your best hope for a full recovery rests in your ability to get to medical care quickly. Brownwood Regional Medical Center has teamed up with Air Evac Lifeteam, a rural provider of air ambulance services, to provide its patients with increased access to emergency medical care.
The Air Evac Lifeteam crew, located on the campus of Brownwood Regional Medical Center, works closely with hospital emergency department staff and area EMS agencies to coordinate patient care and ensure patients get the most rapid and appropriate response in emergency transport.

The Brownwood base is one of more than 70 bases operated by Air Evac Lifeteam, the largest independently owned and operated membership-supported air medical service in the United Sates. Air Evac Lifeteam?s business philosophy is based upon the premise that air ambulances should be placed in areas of greatest need ? rural communities that are often far away from trauma care.
Air Evac Lifeteam crews include a pilot, registered nurse and paramedic. The crew is on duty 24 hours a day and can respond to the scenes of medical emergency, bringing lifesaving medical care directly to the patient, or make inter-facility critical care transfers.
