OUR ADMITTING PROCESS

How BRMC works
CENTRALIZED SCHEDULING
The Centralized Scheduling Department, which is located just inside the main entrance of the hospital, serves as the coordinator for scheduling a wide variety of healthcare services such as x-rays, sleep studies, and day surgeries on an outpatient basis. When you arrive at the hospital for an outpatient procedure, please register at the Admissions Area before proceeding to the ancillary department for treatment.

FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS
At the time you are scheduled to be admitted to the hospital, your insurance provider will be promptly notified, pre-certification or approval of your claim will be requested and insurance coverage and benefits will be verified. Brownwood Regional Medical Center will accept properly assigned benefits. At the time of your admission, you will be assigned to a patient counselor who will answer any questions about your insurance bill or insurance claims.

When you are discharged from the hospital, you are responsible for paying any deductibles or estimated patient portion of your total bill, not paid by your insurer. Claiming and obtaining benefits under the terms of your insurance policy is the primary responsibility of the individual insured.

OUTPATIENT CHARGES
Payment for elective or outpatient services and emergency room services are due on a cash basis unless insurance benefits are confirmed prior to or at the time of treatment.

HOSPITAL COSTS
Your hospital bill involves two major types of charges: the basic room rate and charges for special services or procedures. Your room charges cover the cost of your accommodations, nursing care, meals and related services. Other charges depend on the orders of your physician and include costs such as medications, lab testing, x-rays, operating and recovery room charges, anesthetic supplies, and other care as needed.

You will be billed separately by your physician and any other physicians consulted during your diagnosis and treatment as well as by radiologists, pathologists and anesthesiologists who may have contributed to your care.

ROOMS
Private and semiprivate rooms are available to patients. We will attempt to honor your room preference, should space be available and should it meet with your physician's orders. If we are unable to honor your request at the time of admission, we will arrange a transfer when your preferred accommodations become available.

SPIRITUAL CARE
A meditation room or chapel, which is located near the Walker Cancer Center on the first floor of the main hospital building, is available for prayer and meditation, meetings with clergymen, and other consultations.

A chaplain, who is part of an interdenominational chaplains' program, is available at your request. In addition, your personal clergyman is always a welcome visitor.

ISSUE RESOLUTION
Any individual who has concerns about patient care and safety at BRMC that has not already been addressed is encouraged to contact BRMC management by calling 325.649.3300.

If such complaints cannot be resolved through BRMC management, individuals may contact the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, Office of Quality Monitoring, by calling 1-800-994-6610 or emailing complaint@jcaho.org.
