HOW BRMC WORKS
OUR ADMITTING PROCESS

Admitting process
ADMISSIONS
With orders from your physician, who is a member of the medical staff at Brownwood Regional Medical Center, you have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Non-emergency admissions are conducted through the Admissions and Registration area at the main entrance of the hospital. The admissions process is important in helping us learn information that is vital to the care you receive. Some of the questions asked are mandated by law and we appreciate your assistance in completing this process. Brownwood Regional Medical Center does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age or handicap in admission or access to treatment in its programs or activities.

On the day you are actually admitted to the hospital, please bring the following important documents:

  • Insurance identification cards
  • Social Security number
  • Medicare or Medicaid card
  • Current medication list
  • Information on next of kin or responsible parties including name, address, phone number, and relationship

EMERGENCY ADMISSIONS
In the event of an emergency, hospital admissions will be completed through the admissions and registration facilities located in the Emergency Room. Members of your family or a close friend can be of assistance in providing needed information to hospital personnel if you are unable to do so.

VISITING HOURS
The key to a patient's well being is plenty of rest, and support from family and friends. To help patients achieve a proper balance of both, Brownwood Regional Medical Center asks that each patient be limited to two visitors at a time. Children should not be left unattended and visitors may be asked to leave a patient's room during treatments or during a visit by the patient's physician. Visiting hours end at 9 pm.

At the Women's Center
Visiting hours in the Women's Center (obstetrics unit) are flexible to allow for family bonding. Extended family members and friends are encouraged to visit between Noon and 3 pm and from 7pm to 9 pm. Visitation of maternity patients is allowed for children who are siblings of the newborn, so long as they are in good health at the time of the visit.

At the Intensive Care Unit
Those wishing to visit patients in the Intensive Care Unit will be limited to two people during the following times. Visiting hours are 7 days a week and children are welcome.
• 9 to 9:30am
• 12 to 12:30pm (noon)
• 2 to 2:30pm
• 4 to 4:30pm
