FACILITY HISTORY
On August 20, 1969, Brownwood Community Hospital opened for patient
care under the direction of the Brown County Hospital Authority.
In 1974, new additions were made to the Lab and Business Office.
In 1983, additions to the ER and HIM were completed, as was the addition
of two Surgical Suites, an enlarged Radiology Department, and a new
CT Scan. The Watson Imaging Center/MRI Suite was completed in 1991,
and renovations were made to the Obstetrics and Women’s Services
Area. In 1992, the Outpatient and Administrative Offices were built.
The James B.N. Walker Cancer Center and a Medical Office Building
were added in 1994. Renovations in 2002 included an expanded
Emergency Department, centralized medical records, a more modern
facility entrance, and better patient privacy for the admissions
process.
